The Georgia Bulldogs were overmatched in Tuesday night’s Sugar Bowl, losing 28-21 to a very-motivated Texas squad.

That put a damper on some of the talk about whether or not the Bulldogs should have been included in the College Football Playoff field this year.

However, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit took to Twitter on Wednesday to say that a loss in the Sugar Bowl doesn’t change the fact that he thought the Dawgs deserved a spot in the top four heading into the postseason:

Like Herbstreit said, losses happen, and it doesn’t change the way that the Bulldogs should have been viewed heading into bowl season.

However, it was certainly a disappointing effort from Kirby Smart’s squad, and will put a bit of a damper on the offseason in Athens as the Bulldogs try to regroup and win the SEC East again in 2019.
