Former Alabama star LB C.J. Mosley has agreed to a massive new five-year contract with the New York Jets, per the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

It was going to take a lot of money to get Mosley out of Baltimore, but the Jets were willing to make that happen to the tune of $85 million, with $51 million guaranteed. That’s $17 million per season.

No one is sure what the Ravens were offering to keep Mosley, but the gap was sizable enough for Mosley to head to New York.

Mosley was a four-year star at Alabama (2010-13) and was named the Butkus Award winner and the SEC’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. The Ravens drafted Mosley in the first round (No. 17 overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

In five-career NFL seasons, Mosley has racked up 597 tackles (388 solo, 191 assisted), including 43 tackles for loss.
