The Southeastern Conference is no longer undefeated in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

The league went 4-0 on Thursday but Ole Miss failed to earn the SEC’s fifth win of the NCAA Tournament after surrendering 50 first-half points to Oklahoma in the first round game of the South Region. The second half from Columbia, South Carolina wasn’t much better for the Rebels as Oklahoma went on to win 95-72.

Oklahoma had four players score at least 18 points in the game while Ole Miss didn’t have a single Rebel player score that many points in this one. Turnovers and steals killed Kermit Davis’ team in this matchup as the Rebels turned the ball over 11 times and the Sooners stole the ball from Ole Miss 10 times in the game. The Sooners also dominated in free throw makes and attempts, converting 21 of 25 opportunities while Ole Miss only made three of four attempts from the charity stripe.

One of the few highlights from this game for Ole Miss came with the Breein Tyree jam but even that only cut Oklahoma’s lead to 18 in the game.

With this loss, Ole Miss falls to 20-13 in Davis’ first season in Oxford.
