The LSU Tigers were in trouble late in Saturday’s second-round NCAA Tournament matchup with Maryland. After blowing a double-digit lead, though, they found themselves with a chance for the last shot in a game that was tied at 67-67.

To the surprise of no one, the Tigers put the ball in the hands of star PG Tremont Waters. As has become a common occurrence, Waters rose to the occasion.

As you can see below, Waters takes the ball and dribbles around three Maryland defenders, putting up an impossible underhand layup to send the Tigers to the Sweet 16:

There’s no way that shot should have gone in, but it’s not the first magic act Waters has pulled off this season, and it may not be his last.

Now, the Tigers are on to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2006. Yeah, they made the Final Four that year:

Does this team have another Final Four run in it? They’ll take on the winners of the Michigan State-Minnesota game in the Sweet 16.
