Alabama fans received a massive scare during the Crimson Tide’s game against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night.

With 7 and a half minutes to go in the 1st half and the Tide leading 21-10, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa appeared to have his ankle rolled on by Tennessee defensive lineman Greg Emerson during a tackle. Tagovailoa was forced to exit the game and head to the Alabama medical tent to be tended to by team trainers. He was then escorted to the locker room before halftime. Redshirt sophomore Mac Jones entered in his place.

Entering Saturday’s game, Tagovailoa had thrown for 2,011 yards and and astounding 27 touchdowns versus just 1 interception. Before leaving the game, he was 11-12 for 155 yards and an interception.

It bears no mentioning how important Tagovailoa’s health is to this Alabama program as it progresses through the remainder of the season, especially with a largely untested backup in Jones behind him on the depth chart. For Tide fans’ sake, the hope is that this is just a minor injury and that their talented signal-caller is back on the field sooner rather than later.
