UConn president says it’s ‘likely fall sports will be canceled’; immediately has it walked back

Apparently, no one has learned from Kirk Herbstreit. Unless your opinion is that we’re going to have football this fall, fans and some media members are going to jump all over you for expressing your contrary opinion.

UConn president Tom Katsouleas learned that lesson for himself on Tuesday, as he made some comments that were immediately walked back by the school.

As you can see below, UCTV reported that Katsouleas said fall sports will likely be canceled:

Shortly thereafter, a UConn spokesperson said Katsouleas actually said that fall sports would be canceled only if current conditions persist:

It’s still April. It’s too early to make a final decision on the 2020 football season. We’ll see how things are going this time next month. Perhaps by then, experts will have more information to work with.
