The reigning national champions lost a ton of production to the league this offseason clearing the path for many rising upperclassmen to finally make their impact on the field for Ed Orgeron’s program this fall.

One of the players hoping to have a breakout season for the Tigers is senior defensive end/outside linebacker Travez Moore. While Moore’s path to the field may have cleared up this offseason, the coronavirus may have thrown a major roadblock in the senior’s way.

The Louisiana native shared the following message on Twitter, claiming he lost 27 pounds after testing positive for COVID-19.

“Bro coronavirus is real 👎🏿.. I was 256 now I’m 229 because I lost my appetite and it’s hard to eat plus you can barley [sic] breath. You can’t smell food you can’t taste food or taste any liquids.. stay y’all ass in the house,” Moore posted on Monday evening.

That had to be a scary experience for a player that was likely in peak physical health before testing positive for the virus. Moore’s story should serve as a lesson to those stating that young athletes likely won’t be affected by the virus.

His life may not have been in jeopardy but dropping that much weight leading up to training camp may have hurt his chances to see the field this fall for the Tigers.
