Hot mic leads to Nebraska president revealing timing of Big Ten announcement
As The Big Ten Turns has now come to a hot mic to get the latest news and developments about the Midwest conference’s possible return to play.
During small talk prior to the start of a news conference Tuesday morning, University of Nebraska President Ted Carter said an announcement of the Husker football season will come Tuesday afternoon or evening, KETV, an Omaha ABC-TV affiliate, reported.
“We’re getting ready to announce the Huskers and Big Ten football tonight,” said Carter in a conversation with Bob Hinson, director of the National Strategic Research Institute.
The two were at a podium, just moments prior to a news conference in Lincoln.
Since the weekend, there have been multiple reports about an impending vote by the Big Ten presidents and chancellors, though it hasn’t happened yet, and a definitive time and date is unknown.
Meanwhile, at a U.S. Senate hearing on name, image and likeness issues for college athletes, Wisconsin chancellor Rebecca Blank said the main reasons Big Ten postponed season because of availability of testing & heart issues. “Once we have answers to those issues, we will try to plan a delayed season,” she said.
Stay tuned as updates and reports come out of the Big Ten.
