John Calipari’s team is still finding its way on the court.

That’s not unusual to see, as Calipari’s young teams are always better at the end of the season than they are to start but it’s still odd to see Kentucky open the season with a losing record after falling to 1-2 following Tuesday night’s 65-62 loss to Kansas.

Brandon Boston Jr. and Davion Mintz tied for the scoring lead for Kentucky, as they each had 12 points in the game.

The Wildcats made just 36.1 percent of their shots in the game and went 3 of 21 from three-point range. Kansas won the rebounding advantage 47-43. At one point in the game, Kentucky led by as many as 13 points.

“They’ve got to go through this, it’s all part of the growth of this,” Calipari said after the game. “They punked us. We couldn’t even bring in the ball.”
