Making his first National Football League start in place of Carson Wentz, Jalen Hurts, who starred for both the Alabama Crimson Tide and Oklahoma Sooners, led the Philadelphia Eagles to a 24-21 victory over the New Orleans Saints at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.

Philadelphia improved to 4-8-1, just a game-and-a-half back of the Washington Football Team in the NFC East, while New Orleans fell to 10-3, still two games ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South.

Hurts completed 17-of-30 passes (56.7 percent) for 167 yards and a touchdown pass to ex-South Carolina Gamecock Alshon Jeffery and carried the football 18 times for 106 yards.

Playing a large role in the Eagles’ first win since November 1, many members of the media were complimentary of Hurts’ performance.

Hurts will make his first road start on December 20, when Philadelphia travels to Glendale’s State Farm Stadium to battle the Arizona Cardinals (7-6) at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.
