As Shane Beamer compiles his coaching staff at South Carolina, it appears as though he will bring in a high school football coach and former USC quarterback.

According to Gamecock Central, Hammond High School head coach Erik Kimrey is going across town from his high school team in Columbia, South Carolina, to join the Gamecocks’ staff.

Kimrey will likely join the offensive staff, though it has not been reported the exact capacity in which he will be coaching. Kimrey played quarterback for South Carolina under Lou Holtz in the late 90s and early 2000s, and spent some time coaching tight ends for South Carolina as a graduate assistant in 2003.

Kimrey was hired at Hammond High School in 2004, and has won 12 state championships. One of the best high school coaches in South Carolina’s history, Kimrey is a fan favorite in Columbia and will seemingly be on the sidelines for his alma mater in 2021.
