Barry Switzer unveils NIL collective designed to offer 5-figure paydays to every OU football player

The introduction of Name, Image, and Likeness legislation has changed the game in college sports. Now, Barry Switzer has launched a NIL collective designed at offering five-figure paydays to every Oklahoma football player.
Titled 1Oklahoma Collective, Switzer announced the collective will provide opportunities to every Sooner football player to make between $40,000-$50,000 annually:
“We changed the game in 1981 at The University of Oklahoma by being a pioneer for schools to negotiate their own contracts and generate additional revenue,” Switzer said via statement. “We are changing the game again with 1Oklahoma Collective. Through NIL, every OU football player will have an opportunity to earn between $40,000-$50,000 a year while positively impacting the community.”
In addition to football, players on Oklahoma’s men’s basketball and women’s softball teams will have an opportunity to participate in the collective. Switzer also announced plans to expand into other sports.

To this date, 1Oklahoma is believed to be the most comprehensive NIL offering in the country. It will be interesting to see if any other similar programs surface throughout the country.
