Reuben Foster’s status with San Francisco is currently in doubt, as the 49ers have issued a statement following news of team’s linebacker being charged with three felonies.

Less than a year after being selected with the 31st overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Foster has now been accused of hitting his longtime girlfriend multiple times in the head, threatening her not to report him and threatening her with a weapon. This comes after he was arrest on drug charges in Alabama in January.

Following the news, the 49ers issued the following statement regarding Foster via Pro Football Talk:

“The 49ers organization is aware of today’s disturbing charges regarding Reuben Foster. We will continue to follow this serious matter. Reuben is aware that his place in our organization is under great scrutiny and will depend on what is learned through the legal process.”

It should be noted that even if the team declines to levy punishment against Foster, the NFL can via the Personal Conduct Policy. That’s a tool the league has used before to discipline players that negatively affect the image of the league.
