It appears we can add another name to Nick Saban’s army of Alabama assistants.

The latest coach set to join the Crimson Tide is former Akron offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach A.J. Milwee, according to Matt Zenitz of AL.com. Milwee is expected to serve as an offensive analyst for Alabama.

Milwee, a former college quarterback, spent one season in Tuscaloosa as a player before transferring to North Alabama. During his time at North Alabama, Milwee broke several school records including career passing yards (8,436), pass completions (677), passing attempts (1,030), touchdown passes (73) and total offense yards (9,401). Milwee played at the school from 2006-2008 and led the team to a 33-5 record during his playing career.

He has experience coaching at East Mississippi Community College, of “Last Chance U” fame, before joining Terry Bowden’s staff at Akron. Milwee has served as Akron’s offensive coordinator since the 2013 season and spent a total of seven seasons on staff at the school.

In 2016, Milwee was honored as a member of the American Football Coach’s Association (AFCA) 30 Under 30 Coaches’ Leadership Institute.
