Alabama defeated Georgia 41-34 on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa in an instant-classic affair.

The Crimson Tide led by as many as 28 points in this game and held a 23-point lead in the second half, but Georgia never stopped competing. The Bulldogs stormed all the way back and briefly took the lead over Alabama in the fourth quarter thanks to a 67-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Bell.

After Ryan Williams responded with a touchdown catch of his own 13 seconds later to re-claim the lead, it was up to Alabama’s defense to finish the job.

And that they did.

Georgia got within striking distance of the end zone, but Carson Beck threw his third pick of the game to freshman Zabien Brown to effectively end the game with 43 seconds on the clock. Here’s the play that iced the win for Alabama:

Alabama avoided what would have been a disastrous collapse after leading UGA by 4 touchdowns earlier in the night.

It’s also a signature win for Alabama at the start of the Kalen DeBoer era. The Crimson Tide have now won 9 of the last 10 meetings against Georgia, with 6 of those wins coming against 2-time national champion Kirby Smart.
