Alabama coach Nick Saban discusses play that injured DL Da’Shawn Hand

Alabama DL Da’Shawn Hand was injured during the third quarter of Saturday night’s 66-3 win over Ole Miss on a play that many thought was dirty.

However, when analyzing the play, experts have agreed that the play is legal.

In fact, even Alabama coach Nick Saban agrees that the play was legal, but added during Monday’s press conference that he would be OK with changing the rule:

Hand has an MCL sprain and has been ruled out for Alabama’s game against Texas A&M this weekend and might be out even longer.

Here’s another look at the play that injured Hand. As you can see, it appears as if he just got hit at the wrong moment while his foot was planted in the turf:
