Alabama landed its latest 5-star edge rusher on Thursday with a commitment from Jeremiah Alexander
of Alabaster, Alabama.

Alexander is listed at 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds and the No. 1-rated edge rusher in America, according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as the No. 1-rated player in the state of Alabama. He’s the No. 16 player in the country in the 2022 class.

He had a reported 19 offers, and picked Alabama over Clemson among others.

Alexander has had a busy recruitment. According to Bama OnLine, Alexander committed to Bama back in March of 2020, becoming UA’s first pledge in the class 0f 2022. Last fall the elite edge rusher re-opened his recruitment to focus on finishing his junior season, as well as explore all of his options. Programs like Georgia and Clemson, among others, kept things interesting at times, but Alabama always remained in play, even after Alexander’s area recruiter, Karl Scott, left the staff. Entering Thursday’s decision, it was the Tide and Tigers left standing for the nation’s top edge prospect.

“At the end of the day, I think he was going to Alabama the whole time,” his high school coach Mark Freeman told AL.com. “It’s close to home, and it’s a great program known for putting guys in the NFL, especially defensive guys. Obviously, it’s a good fit.”
