Following a 59-31 victory against Ole Miss, Alabama released its players of the week honors on Monday. Unsurprisingly, Devonta Smith was one of the offensive recipients.

Smith record a new school record with 274 yards and five touchdowns against Ole Miss in Week 5. His five scores also tied a conference record while his 274 yards is ranked sixth in SEC history. Incredibly, Smith posted eight catches for 221 receiving yards and four touchdowns in the first half.

Overall, he hauled in 11 of his 12 targets from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who went 26-for-36 with 418 passing yards and six touchdowns. He, along with offensive lineman Jedrick Wills, were the other Alabama offensive players of the week.

Defensive back Xavier McKinney posted 10 total tackles in the rout against Ole Miss, leading the way for the Crimson Tide defense and earning Alabama’s defensive player of the week honors. Joining him with the accolade was linebacker Anfernee Jennings, who had nine total tackles, including 1.0 for loss.

McKinney and Jennings are ranked first and third, respectively, for Alabama in tackles this season. Finally, linebacker Ale Kaho won the special teams player of the week for the Crimson Tide.
