Alabama is preparing to play Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl. The Crimson Tide came so close to making the College Football Playoff once again but were jumped by SMU for the final spot.
Ahead of the bowl game, the Tide have seen several players jump into the transfer portal. On Monday, wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson Jr. became the latest to announce his decision to explore his options in the portal. The wideout released a statement via his agency regarding the move.
First, I want to thank my family, coaches, and the University of Alabama for the opportunity to play the sport I love,” said Henderson. “I am grateful for the past three years I’ve had at Alabama and the experiences, memories, and friendships I have made. After much consideration, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining.
Henderson is now the 4th Alabama receiver on the 2-deep to enter the portal, joining Kendrick Law, Kobe Prentice, and Caleb Odom. In 2024, Henderson caught 4 passes for 82 yards. The WR also returned 5 kicks for 107 yards on the season and collected 4 tackles on special teams. Overall, Henderson caught 5 passes for 96 yards in his Alabama career.
As a high schooler, Henderson was rated a 4-star prospect and the No. 2 player out of Alabama in the 2022 class by the 247Sports Composite ranking. Henderson was originally a running back but transitioned to WR in Tuscaloosa.
In total, the Tide have had 14 players officially enter the portal.
