Alabama’s kicker releases an emotional apology after missing game-tying field goal in Iron Bowl

Alabama fans and students are still dealing with the disappointment of Saturday’s Iron Bowl. One particular play from the afternoon, though, will stand out the most.
With the Crimson Tide trailing 48-45 with two minutes remaining in regulation, kicker Joseph Bulovas missed a short 30-yard field goal that would have tied the game.
It was against the Tide’s bitter rivals, so fans were understandably upset over eventually losing the game and seeing Alabama’s Playoff hopes disappear as well. Sadly, some fans took it much too far, as Bulovas spent the evening bombarded with abusive and vile remarks on social media.
On Sunday, Bulovas posted his first public remarks since Saturday’s miss, expressing his disappointment in himself and vowing to bounce back from it.
Reaction was swift from the media over Alabama fans’ abusive tweets, notably from former Crimson Tide quarterback and current ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy. Meanwhile, the good news is that Bulovas is a sophomore, so he’ll have plenty of opportunities throughout the remainder of his career to atone for Saturday’s events.
