Carolina Panthers expected to target SEC offensive coordinator, per report

The Carolina Panthers could reportedly look to the SEC again for their new offensive coordinator.

Carolina needs a new offensive coordinator after firing former LSU assistant Joe Brady in early December. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is expected to be a Panthers target for the position.

Carolina’s is expected to target former NFL head coaches Jay Gruden and Bill O’Brien in its search for a new offensive coordinator, per league sources.

Carolina also expected to be interested in talking with Rams’ OC Kevin O’Connell.

O’Brien arrived at Alabama for the 2021 season after being fired by the Houston Texans as head coach and general manager. O’Brien was in the NFL from 2007-11 as an assistant with the New England Patriots. He was the Patriots’ OC in 2011 before taking the Penn State head coaching job. After 2 seasons at Penn State, O’Brien returned to the NFL in 2014 taking the Texans head coaching job, a position he held until Oct. 5, 2020.

O’Brien has also been mentioned as a candidate for the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching job.
