CFB fans, media accuse CFP committee of SEC bias after Alabama's ranking revealed
The SEC is well-represented in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2021 season. It’s no surprise that some fans and media members are accusing the CFP selection committee of SEC bias.
There was no surprise that Georgia came in at No. 1, but some CFB observers are calling out the committee for ranking Alabama, which lost to a Texas A&M squad that was not ranked at the time, No. 2 overall ahead of multiple undefeated teams. It’s important to note that the Aggies are ranked now at No. 14 by the selection committee. Texas A&M is one of 7 SEC teams, including 5 SEC West squads, to make the Top 25.
Here’s a sample of what’s being said on Twitter:
This is proof of a few things:
1. SEC bias (not trying to dog on Alabama, but they have 1 really good win AND they have a loss, yet they are #2). Also, Mississippi St. being ranked #17…?
2. Group of Five teams stand no chance (Cincinnati this year).
3. Oregon at #4??????? pic.twitter.com/5a4ocrF3Hl

SEC bias. Plain and simple. Alabama has the worst loss of the one loss teams in the pack. https://t.co/9hgvNsX7oy

So Alabama loses to an unranked Texas A&M team and is #2 while Ohio State loses to #7 Oregon and they are 6th? Lol the sec bias is unparalleled

This is absolutely ridiculous that Bama is one loss at number 2 and that Oklahoma isn’t higher than Cincy, the SEC bias has gotten out of hand. https://t.co/kNSOlSI9G8

Takeaways from tonight’s poll:
– If you’re a G5 team, then you’re not making the playoffs period
– SEC bias continues
– Decision to put OU at No. 8 was surprisingly agreeable

Ok maybe there is an SEC bias ?

Alabama has no business being number 2. None whatsoever. I couldn't care less about Cincinnati, etc but hate SEC bias. This leaves the door open for a 2 loss Bama to get in if they lose close to Georgia in the SEC title game. Gross.
