The SEC is well-represented in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2021 season. It’s no surprise that some fans and media members are accusing the CFP selection committee of SEC bias.

There was no surprise that Georgia came in at No. 1, but some CFB observers are calling out the committee for ranking Alabama, which lost to a Texas A&M squad that was not ranked at the time, No. 2 overall ahead of multiple undefeated teams. It’s important to note that the Aggies are ranked now at No. 14 by the selection committee. Texas A&M is one of 7 SEC teams, including 5 SEC West squads, to make the Top 25.
