Dan Dakich calls Nate Oats a ‘punk’ for postgame behavior after Alabama’s win over Houston
A great basketball game between Alabama and Houston on Saturday was ruined by what took place as the game ended.
The Crimson Tide won the game 83-82 after a late JD Davison bucket and controversial block that looked on replay as if could have been a goaltending call that would have given Houston the win.
As the final buzzer sounded. Houston coach Kelvin Sampson went after the referees about the non-call, leaving Alabama coach Nate Oats standing near mid-court with a smile on his face looking for a handshake.
Oats’ behavior as the game concluded drew criticism from former ESPN analyst and longtime college coach Dan Dakich, who tweeted Sunday morning, “Why is Nate Oats acting like a lil punk?”
Why is Nate Oats acting like a lil punk?
What the hell is wrong with coaches these days?
Walk like a man Nate
Sampson is hot ..that’s his business with his team
Oates is acting like a lil punk here
Ridiculous https://t.co/otPQcYn3E6— Dan Dakich (@dandakich) December 12, 2021
Dakich has developed a reputation for his controversial takes as an analyst and radio personality, which played in a role in his being released by ESPN.
With the win Saturday night, Alabama is now 8-1 on the season. It has wins over Gonzaga and Houston in its last 2 games.
The Crimson Tide return to action with a road game at Memphis on Tuesday night.
