Derek Dooley is reportedly returning to the SEC. Dooley, 53, will be a senior offensive analyst at Alabama, according to John Brice of FootballScoop.

It will be Dooley’s third time working for a team coached by Nick Saban. Dooley was on Saban’s LSU staff as a tight ends coach (2000-02) and assistant head coach & running backs coach (2003-04). When Saban took the Miami Dolphins job, Dooley followed as the team’s tight ends coach.

After his time with the Dolphins, Dooley landed the head coaching job at Louisiana Tech ahead of the 2007 season. Following Lane Kiffin’s departure from Tennessee, Dooley became the new head coach of the Volunteers. At UT, Dooley’s teams went 15-21 overall and 4-19 in the SEC from 2010-to-2012.

Dooley coached wide receivers on the Dallas Cowboys staff from 2013-to-2017. He returned to the SEC as Missouri’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2018 and ’19 seasons. The last 2 seasons, he was on Joe Judge’s New York Giants coaching staff.
