After making a run at an NFL career, former Alabama receiver Derek Kief is ready to begin his coaching career.

The former Crimson Tide receiver played in Tuscaloosa from 2015-2018 and registered 11 catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns during his college career.

After landing a tryout with the Buffalo Bills leading up to the start of the 2019 season, where former Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll was running the Bills offense, Kief is now ready to try his hand at coaching and plans to join another former Alabama offensive coordinator.

This time, Kief is rejoining with Mike Locksley as the former Alabama receiver is expected to join the Maryland coaching staff as a graduate assistant, according to Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

While Kief may not have been a heavy factor in Alabama’s offense during his playing career, he saw the field extensively on special teams. During his final three seasons in Tuscaloosa, Kief saw the field in 41 games for Alabama’s special teams units after signing as one of Ohio’s top overall prospects in the 2014 recruiting cycle.
