College football is crazy this year. Week 7 and Week 8 both saw plenty of upsets and big-name teams going down.
In the SEC, the Kentucky Wildcats improved to 7-1 under Will Stein with a win over Vanderbilt on Saturday night. Elsewhere, Texas kept its Playoff hopes alive with a win over Ole Miss and Tennessee went to South Carolina and lost.
It was another chaotic week, and now the SEC doesn’t have any of the top 3 teams in ESPN’s updated Football Power Index (FPI). As you can see below, Ohio State, Miami and Notre Dame hold down the top spots in this week’s rankings:
- Ohio State
- Miami
- Notre Dame
- Georgia
- Alabama
- Indiana
- LSU
- Texas
- Ole Miss
- Utah
- Oregon
- Tennessee
- Nebraska
- Texas Tech
- BYU
- Wake Forest
- Florida
- Houston
- Oklahoma
- Northwestern
- Louisville
- Texas A&M
- Arizona
- Kentucky
- USC
A total of 10 SEC squads are included in the FPI top 25 above. The 6 that weren’t included were South Carolina (No. 26), Mizzou (No. 28), Auburn (No. 29), Mississippi State (No. 40), Arkansas (No. 59) and Vanderbilt (No. 68).
How will these rankings change after Week 9? We’ll find out after what could be a spooky Halloween for a number of top teams in the nation.
