Following an injury-riddled 2016 season with the Green Bay Packers, former Alabama RB Eddie Lacy found himself searching for a new team this offseason.

Looking to prove he can still be a valuable NFL runner, Lacy signed with the Seattle Seahawks for one year and $5.5 million ($3 million guaranteed).

After officially signing his contract for the 2017 season, Lacy spoke with Seahawks.com and said he wants to be the next Marshawn Lynch for Seattle:

“I’ve always favored Marshawn Lynch’s running style, and that’s something Pete Carroll definitely likes,” he said. “I’m going to come in and do my best impression of him and just bring my hard work and my hard running style to the table.”

Lacy added that one of his biggest motivations heading into the 2017 season is to prove that his first two years with the Packers — during which he won the Rookie of the Year award in 2013 and rushed for 1,178 and 1,139 yards — are what he’s capable of giving the Seahawks:

“[I] just want to come out and showcase what I can do, prove that I’m not a fluke, that I can do what I do and do it really well,” he said.

If Lacy can’t keep his weight down and struggles in 2017, his NFL career may come to an early and disappointing end. But, Lynch didn’t emerge as a star until he found his way to Seattle, so maybe the former Crimson Tide star can channel some of that West coast magic this fall.
