Eddrick Houston is a 5-star defensive lineman and one of the top players from Georgia for the 2024 recruiting class. He originally committed to Ohio State in August but received a late push from Alabama to try and flip his pledge on Early Signing Day.

In fact, some in the industry expected Houston to complete that flip and wind up in Tuscaloosa. Steve Wiltfong, the Director of Football Recruiting for 247 Sports, even logged a crystal ball prediction for Nick Saban’s program on Wednesday morning.

In the end, Houston confirmed he is sticking with his commitment to Ryan Day’s Buckeyes and will sign with Ohio State. That announcement came during Day’s Early Signing Day press conference.

In fact, Day paused his press conference to take a phone call away from the media for a few minutes. Speculation swirled that the call came from Houston’s camp, and the head coach was even asked if the call came from Buford, Houston’s high school location.

Day chuckled and declined a comment. Whether or not that call was related to Houston is up for debate, but the star DL is indeed headed to Columbus.

Houston is listed at 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds as a game-changing defender out of Buford (GA) High School. The 247 Sports Composite rates Houston as the No. 5 DL in the country and the 26th overall prospect for the 2024 recruiting cycle.
