Jahvon Quinerly makes surprising announcement regarding future at Alabama

Published:
Jahvon Quinerly announced Sunday evening that he will be entering the transfer portal after 3 years at Alabama. This upcoming season will be his last in college basketball.
The announcement comes after Quinerly previously announced that he would be staying at Alabama for another season.
At face value, this news makes sense. The Crimson Tide return Mark Sears and earned a transfer commitment from former Hofstra standout Aaron Estrada in the transfer portal. Still, this is a big loss for a squad that now is running out of veteran talent who understand head coach Nate Oats’ system.
Quinerly totaled 8.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game last season for the Tide. The former 5-star started his career at Villanova before transferring to Tuscaloosa following the 2020 season.

The Tide have now lost most of its 2022-23 squad either to the portal or NBA Draft. Brandon Miller, Noah Clowney, Jaden Bradley, Charles Bediako and now Quinerly will not return in 2023-24.
