Jim Harbaugh believes his Michigan team is built for competition and lives for the thrill of a challenge. In fact, he believes his team will not be deterred by the challenge of facing Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

During a Sunday evening teleconference, Harbaugh was asked about his reaction to drawing a matchup with Alabama in the College Football Playoff. The head coach cited excitement on the part of the Wolverines and said a game between the two legendary programs will be iconic.

“We’re excited to face them. It’s iconic. It’s Alabama, it’s ‘Roll Tide.’ Doesn’t get any better to be playing in the Rose Bowl,” said Harbaugh. “Just to appreciate the tradition of the Rose Bowl, playing a great team like Alabama.”

Overall, Harbaugh says his team is “thrilled” with what has been accomplished and to tackle the challenges ahead. Now, a trip to the CFP National Championship Game will be on the line on New Year’s Day.

“It always has meaning, and what we did was special. Not only yesterday but the entire season, the whole group that we have. We’re thrilled to be where we’re at,” Harbaugh explained. “We’re thrilled to be playing Alabama, thrilled to be playing in the Rose Bowl because it’s going to be competition. This is what this team lives for.”
