Kane Wommack says Alabama defense didn't play to potential vs. Wisconsin
Kane Wommack’s Alabama defense made things extremely difficult for Wisconsin during the Crimson Tide’s 42-10 victory in Week 3. Wisconsin had only 290 yards of offense and turned the ball over twice. The Badgers also couldn’t keep sustain any drives, as they were only 3-of-14 on 3rd downs.
With that type of performance, it would be safe to think that Alabama’s defense played up to its potential.
However, if you ask Wommack, the defense can still be even better.

“The numbers looked like we were dominant,” Wommack told reporters on Monday. “But I didn’t think we were as dominant as we were capable of.”
If this unit is still capable of taking it to another level, that is a scary sign for the rest of the SEC and college football. One guy that Wommack did think was dominant was LT Overton, who had 6 tackles in the game.

Overton and the defense will have a week off to watch some film and get better, as they have a bye week before welcoming in Georgia to Tuscaloosa on September 28. The Bulldogs offense had some struggles of their own in Week 3, as they were able to have 262 yards of offense in the 13-12 win against Kentucky.
If the Alabama defense can play at a higher level like Wommack believes his unit can, it could be another tough game for Georgia.
He is right. No defense playing in a dominant fashion allows any team to have a 17 play drive, much less one that goes 75 yards.
