The Alabama Crimson Tide are preparing for the quarterback battle of the year, as all eyes will be on Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa this summer.

Both have done some great things for the Tide, and coach Nick Saban will have a tough decision to make ahead of Week 1.

On Wednesday morning, ESPN host Rece Davis joined “3 Man Front” on WJOX and broke down what Saban told him about the approaching QB battle:

“I told him, ‘The difference here to me, is that in all those other situations, you were dealing with guys who didn’t have equity. Now you have two guys, both of whom have some equity. How is that different?'” Davis said. “He went into a similar thing in saying that both had done things to help the team win, and that had some impact. But the biggest thing is exactly what you said, that the quarterback is the distribution center and how they build confidence and how they win the team is (the receivers) believe they run the route and they’ve got a chance to get the ball based on coverage and all of that kind of thing.”

Obviously, you want your quarterback to be a good distributor and have the respect of his teammates, so Saban saying this isn’t exactly tipping his hand.

Still, everything he says between now and when he names a starter will be heavily scrutinized.
