LOOK: Alabama fans freaking out on Twitter over report that Steve Sarkisian could be new OC
The Alabama Crimson Tide have been losing assistants at an alarming rate this offseason, but apparently that could soon be changing.
According to a report on Saturday night, former Alabama OC Steve Sarkisian was reported to be considering a return to Tuscaloosa.
Per Albert Breer, Sark was even on campus in Tuscaloosa on Saturday to interview for the open offensive coordinator job — a position he held for the national title game a couple of years ago:
Ex-Falcons OC Steve Sarkisian was on campus at Alabama today, I’m told, interviewing for the offensive coordinator job. @diannaESPN reports he’s headed there.

After watching Sark’s struggles with the Atlanta Falcons the past couple of seasons, Alabama fans weren’t exactly thrilled at the prospect of having Sark back. As you can see below, they took to Twitter to blast the rumors:
Two texts with the same message received within a minute of the other:
“Would Be Saban’s most unpopular hire ever.”
“Would be most disappointing move of his 12 years.”

Alabama fans will never be madder at Saban than if he actually hires Sark as OC. https://t.co/HEvb2vbpvG

Please let Sark be using Alabama as leverage I beg you football god pic.twitter.com/9UXmdESSpN

I keep refreshing my Twitter feed hoping to see this Sark thing be discredited… anyone else?

So you are telling me Sark couldn’t put Julio in the end zone so you are going to give him control of Tua, Devonta, Jerry, and Jaylen…. pic.twitter.com/sjJFVn7l1a

Sark dipped after one game at Alabama as the OC, ruined the league’s worst offense in Atlanta, and then ends up back at Bama? With this talent, Saban would’ve had his pick for the job and ends up with Sark? That’s horrendous.

Saban on that dementia grind. If Sark is our OC then pic.twitter.com/ncBF0w8MWx

Nothing is official yet, but this will seemingly be a move many fans won’t be on board with.
Yep
Loser.
I am not going to question Saban if he brings back Sark because he obviously knows more about Football than anyone on these forums but I am curious what his plan is for the offense.
But we should question Coach Saban. This has nothing to do with x’s and o’s Specifically but more to do with trust when it comes to Sark.
Why should we really? Saban has proven time and again he can replace coaches as he has done it just about every year he has been at Bama… I believe he has earned the benefit of a little trust at this point…. You can question him though if you like as it’s your right…
A great place for this guy. He has my full confidence he will make a big splash at Bama!
kool-aid man voice- OHHHHHHHHHH YEEEEEAAAAAAAA do the hire…. it wont bite!
But ignore me because I’m just a real dumba$$.

Refresh my memory, when was the last time Georgia actually beat Alabama?
I’m really a puss!
Hopefully you can now be officially blocked from the site…
That’ll be the day.
They will still beat uga. Keep crying.
How is that relevant to UT Jr?
It’s as relevant as this article is to UGA… That obviously hasn’t stopped the nonsense from UGA fans…
I didn’t comment on anything, nor did I say the trolls were in the right in doing so.
You asked how it’s relevant to UT like he shouldn’t be posting…. His post was as relevant as the UGA fans posts on this article… All nonsense.
Glad we agree, then.
Too bad EBT cards can’t buy grammer. X I think your parole officer called…..
So many trolls on SDS now…
Agree Bama. Lots of sad, unhappy people on this site. Too bad these idiots can’t debate with class and intelligence. And you know who you are.
All from the same fanbase
Whose team hasn’t won a natty in many many years. Didn’t even win their conference this year. Wear lots of red and black. Very frustrated people.
Of course I’m the biggest troll on here and everyone knows it!

Probably just one clown using a bunch of different ID’s. At some point, this site has to ban the IP address, not just the screen name.
Agree
Hopefully sooner rather than later. Dawg and gator for starters…
LMAO
I will be unhappy with Sark coming back. He left after one terrible game at Alabama to go and ruin the Falcons offense. He’s the reason Alabama lost the 2016 championship game. He called a horrible game, and it was his play calling that forced our dominant defense to play about 100 downs against one of the best offenses in the country.
I agree but he wasn’t terrible considering he wasn’t doing any coaching for the season and had to step in with a week to get ready for the game… I trust Saban knows what he is doing.
No offense, but he didn’t know what he was doing when he fired Kiffin and brought Sark in off the bench for the biggest game of the year. He also made a bad hire when he brought in Applewhite for that one season as OC. Saban is the best, but he has made some bad decisions.
So he didn’t know what he was doing? 2007 was a transition year for Saban so Applewhites hire didn’t matter one way or the other… As far as
Kiffin who knows what was actually going on within the program with him at that time. The plan was to keep him on but something was going on once he was hired as a HC again and Saban may not have had much of an option… Hindsight is always 20/20 but he is spot on more often than not…
Most of his decisions have worked out quite well. I think if Sark does come back onboard, he will be fine. He has a much better passing qb to work with this time.
He does and he will have time to work with the players this time if he is hired. You never know with Saban though. I am sure he ha probably talked to numerous people in reference to the OC Job but it’s anybody’s guess who he offers it to.
he wasn;t the reason yall lost that game. the defense lost yall that game.
hey but yall beat my dawgs aa usual and Clemson would beat us to. I think we should have gone with Sark instead of Kirby.
Enough trolling Bama fans on a Saturday night. I’m sure you can find a better use of your time, right?
And it gets worse for the tide…
They’ll still beat Auburn with your high school coach!
Dweeb
We have a bunch of draft elligible players returning and an NFL OC (turned down OC position with the Cards). Yeah, terrible times. How’re things on the plains?
If this is all true, I’m guessing that Sark has decided that college is where he wants to be. He knows how hard it can be working for Saban, and he wants to do it anyway. This time, he will have plenty of time to prepare. Just waiting on the Kiffin tweet now.
Yeah he turned down the Cards job but I haven’t heard of an official offer from Bama yet…
I’m sure lots of people were worried when Kiffin came around. Dark wasn’t really that bad in Atlanta this year. Good hire if you ask me. Just make sure he has someone monitoring what he does off the field.
Sark was pretty good not all that long ago. Let the bottle interfere with what he may have done at SC. Nobody really knows. It is probably unfair to gage his quality by one game at bama and anything in the NFL. He may have sucked in Atlanta but in the No Fun League you suck and get fired one season and play for a super bowl the next. It’s just totally different. Atlanta is a perennial bottom dweller with lots of different OC’s over the years. A few good seasons and the falcons fans think they are the new England patriots. Must be something in the water down there.
Perennial bottom dweller is such an exaggeration and has to be coming from hate. The Falcons have struggled to put back to back seasons together, but they are tied with the most super bowl appearances in the division in the last twenty or so years, which is two. (Carolina 2, Atlanta 2, TB 1, NO 1.) That and I think they are tied with the most NFC South “championships” too I’ll have to fact check that, so if you challenge that I will.
I agree with the other parts of the post though, but cut the other nonsense out.
Only 5 teams won more games than Atlanta over the last decade.
It’s like this offseason is the gift that keeps on giving.
Ruh-hole Tuh-had.
Is it April 1st already?
What 9th concentric ring in Hades did I wake up in?!
NO! NO! NO!
The man completely destroyed one of the best offenses in the NFL the last 2 years. WTF, Nick?!
1. 4 straight poor performances
2. Rehiring Sark, who play-called Alabama out of a National Championship and mismanaged Atlanta’s offense for 2 seasons.
3. Lack of sports media, who are more often wrong than right, declaring that Alabama’s dynasty is over.
You don’t have to buy into it quite yet, but it’s time for Bama fans to seriously consider that we have started a decline.
Ok couple questions…
1. What 4 straight poor performances?
2. You think Sark did a bad job considering he had a week with the team? Remember he wasn’t a coach until that week…
3. WTF is that even supposed to mean?
Going undefeated in conference and bringing in another top ranked recruiting class doesn’t is hardly declining….
1. Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, Clemson. All bad performances from the team where they did not look like themselves at all. They won 3 games based on talent, but the players and coaching staff had 3 chances to right the ship that was clearly going off course and couldn’t do it. After the Oklahoma game, I knew that Bama was going to lose to Clemson and, while upset with the outcome, I was not surprised at all.
2. Sark was an analyst with the team all season, so it’s not like he wasn’t familiar with the team. He made some terrible play calls in the 2nd half that cost them the NC. However, this is one game and it’s not right to hang your hat on that. What is more telling is that he inherited one of the best offenses in the NFL and they turned completely mediocre over 2 seasons despite having very good talent. This is very troubling.
3. This is an advanced analysis of media coverage. The sports media tends to be hyperbolic and more often wrong than right in its analyses. After Alabama’s other losses in the past few years, popular media trends were to say that Alabama has lost it’s luster and dominance. They were wrong. I haven’t seen much of this type of analysis after the Clemson game despite 4 straight poor performances. It should be very troubling to Bama fans that the sports media hasn’t been down on the future of Alabama football, given their patterns.
My statement was “started a decline.” A decline occurs after a peak. The undefeated in the conference and #1 recruiting class that you mentioned would be an example of the peak.
Sorry, but the “he ruined the Falcons offense” argument is horrible at best. You’re trying to compare coaching in the NFL to college, which is laughable. I seem to remember Saban not being cut out for NFL coaching either, but he seems to do just fine dominating the college football world in coaching most of the time. I don’t have a dog in this hunt, but it’s sad to see people use a non-argument to try and prove that he’d be a horrible hire.
Nothing to see here folks… Unfortunately, Saban could promote his water boy to OC and still win. He’s that good.
