Mac Jones and the New England Patriots beat the Panthers in Carolina on Sunday, 24-6, but the New England rookie quarterback still found himself in hot water after the game.

Just before the end of the first quarter, Jones was sacked on a 3rd-and-4 play by Carolina’s Brian Burns. The hit jarred the football loose and Carolina recovered to set up a field goal. During the scramble for the football, Jones appeared to grab and twist Burns’ leg while on the ground.

Burns left the game later in the fourth quarter with a right ankle injury. After the game, Panthers linebacker Haason Reddick let his feelings on the play be known.

“I thought it was completely dirty,” he said, according to The Athletic’s Joe Person. “Hopefully it’s something the league addresses.”

Burns finished with 5 tackles on the day. Jones, who was also picked off in the second quarter by former Patriots defensive back Stephon Gilmore, went 12-for-18 with 139 passing yards and a touchdown. New England intercepted Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold 3 times to help offset Jones’ 2 turnovers and leave with a win.
