Michigan linebacker Michael Barrett made some interesting comments when asked about the video that went around showing Michigan players reacting negatively to Alabama being their CFP semifinal matchup.

Barrett says it isn’t quite what it seems, though. He insists that the reaction was not one of fear for Alabama, but pure shock that Florida State did not get into the CFP after being an undefeated Power 5 champion.

Here’s his full quote:

While it is true that Michigan would much rather see Florida State than Alabama right now, Barrrett’s claim isn’t too difficult to believe. Many still expected the Seminoles to reach the playoff despite losing star QB Jordan Travis for the season.

Take a listen to the reaction for yourself, is it one of feat or shock?

The Crimson Tide and Wolverines will face off at 5 p.m. ET in the Rose Bowl, Jan. 1. The game will be aired on ESPN.
