The Alabama Crimson Tide will have one of the most-scrutinized quarterback battles in recent college football history this summer between Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa.

Many think Tagovailoa, the hero from last season’s title game, will win the job, but Hurts has started for the past two seasons with great success.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the player who doesn’t win the job transfer, but on Tuesday, Saban told ESPN’s Sage Steele that Hurts insisted to his coach that he was going to be in Tuscaloosa through the end of the 2018 season at least:

“Jalen actually came to me and said … ‘I am going to be here. I am going to be here. I came here to get an education. I graduate in December, and I’m going to be here,'” Saban said Hurts told him.

Obviously, graduating would make it easier for Hurts to play wherever he wants in 2019 if he doesn’t win the starting job.

Still, it’s an open battle and we’ll have to see if Hurts can’t win his job for a third-straight season.
