The Alabama Crimson Tide have one of the best receivers in the country in Calvin Ridley, so finding ways to get the ball in his hands as often as possible will be a big key to their success.

On ESPN’s College GameDay, coach Nick Saban told the crew that he expects to see the talented junior have a big impact in Saturday night’s season opener against the Florida State Seminoles.

Saban said it will come down to new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll’s schemes and QB Jalen Hurts’s comfort in the passing game.

“I think Brian will do a good job of moving him around to get him the ball,” he said. “I think Jalen understands the passing game a lot better.”

Ridley had 72 catches for 769 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Those were solid numbers, but his 10.7 yards-per-catch average raises eyebrows and says a lot about how inefficient the Crimson Tide were at getting him the ball in space.

See if Hurts and Daboll can get the ball into Ridley’s hands more often and in better situations at 8 p.m. Eastern time tonight. The game can be seen on ABC.
