Nick Saban took Alabama recruiting to another level during his legendary tenure in Tuscaloosa. The 2024 recruiting class, Saban’s last, was ranked No. 2 nationally on the 247Sports Composite, but now an unsigned pledge is looking around knowing that he won’t be playing for Saban.

Ryan Williams is no longer committed to Alabama. The 5-star unsigned wide receiver shared the news Wednesday via his Instagram account.

A Saraland (Alabama) standout, Williams is listed as measuring over 6-feet and 165 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Williams is rated 5-stars, the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama, No. 4 wide receiver and No. 12 prospect overall in the Class of 2024.

While the vast majority of 2024 prospects ended their recruitments in December’s Early Signing Period, Williams is unsigned. He is expected to sign in February.

Auburn had been pushing to try to flip Williams, and is now considered the top team to land his signature on February’s National Signing Day, with Bud Elliott of 247Sports already logging a Crystal Ball prediction.

In Hugh Freeze’s first full recruiting cycle, Auburn has the No. 7 class on the Composite for 2024. Sixteen signees have already enrolled at AU, with four more inked to enroll later.

Williams committed to Alabama back on Oct. 8, 2022. He was a Class of 2025 prospect at the time. In December, Williams announced that he was reclassifying to the 2024 class.
