One of the more difficult roster situations at Alabama is that Jahleel Billingsley, a preseason All-SEC selection, is not the starting tight end on Alabama’s depth chart. Instead, he and Major Tennison are co-backups to starter Cameron Latu.

Coach Nick Saban addressed Billingsley’s situation on the SEC media teleconference on Wednesday.

“We’re just trying to get Jahleel to be a responsible, disciplined person and a responsible, disciplined player. We have high hopes for how he can contribute to the team,” Saban said, “but how that happens is, you know, sort of his choice.”

Another news development this week was Tulane’s program using Alabama’s facilities in the wake of Hurricane Ida disrupting the community around New Orleans.

“Obviously, we’re very concerned for people who have been put in a difficult circumstance because of this storm,” Saban said. “… These guys are in a tough spot, so any time we can help people in a tough spot, we’re glad to do it. We’ve had other teams practice in our facility before and I’m never opposed to that.”
