The Alabama Crimson Tide suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday in the Iron Bowl, falling to the Auburn Tigers 26-14.

Now, there’s a legitimate question as to whether the Tide should be included in the College Football Playoff, but ESPN host Paul Finebaum thinks the Tide have a clear path to get to the Playoff once again.

During his Monday morning appearance on “The Opening Drive” on WJOX, Finebaum said he still thinks the Crimson Tide have a shot to make the final four, saying Alabama fans should root for Ohio State this weekend:

“I do believe Alabama has a shot,” he said. “They do need a little bit of help, but I don’t think they need that much. They just need, in my mind, Ohio State to beat Wisconsin. Then it becomes an Alabama vs. Ohio State battle. Obviously, if TCU beats Oklahoma, it makes it a lot easier.”

Finebaum added that people knocking Alabama’s resume need to understand that the Crimson Tide have a win over the No. 3 team in the country, even if Florida State’s season has gone downhill after that season opener:

“In my mind, Alabama is the best team over Ohio State if that is the final disposition,” he said. “That Florida State game, to me, was a win over the No. 3 team in the country, not a team that’s fighting to have a .500 record.”

It’ll be interesting to see what happens this weekend, but if the Buckeyes lose to the undefeated Badgers in the Big Ten Championship Game, it would spell trouble for the Tide.
