Pete Golding, Alabama’s defensive coordinator, was arrested on Thursday morning in Northport, Alabama, on a DUI charge. Now, the Alabama Athletics Department has released a statement about the incident.

“Alabama Athletics is aware of the incident involving Pete Golding. We are mindful of the seriousness of the situation and will continue to gather more information to address this personnel matter.”

Golding was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail, and his bond was set at $500, but as of Thursday morning, he was still in the jail.

He released this statement to AL.com via Tuscaloosa attorney Jason C. Neff: “I am deeply sorry for the actions that led to my arrest last night. I sincerely apologize to my family, everyone in our organization, including our players, Coach Saban, the staff, The University of Alabama, and our fans. Regardless of the outcome of this pending investigation, I did not uphold the values I have for myself and the values of the Alabama football program. I am committed to learning and growing from this mistake and I will work to earn back the trust of those who I have disappointed.”

Golding has been Alabama’s defensive coordinator since 2018. He just helped the Tide put together the nation’s No. 2 overall recruiting class during the 2022 cycle. Golding came to Tuscaloosa after he coached the defensive backs and was the defensive coordinator at the UT-San Antonio in 2016 and 2017.
