Lane Kiffin could be coaching elsewhere next season.

Alabama’s offensive coordinator reportedly interviewed for the head coaching job at Maryland, according to 247Sports.

“Per a reliable source in Tuscaloosa, ‘the situation has run its course’ and Kiffin seems unlikely to return next year,” wrote Jeff Ermann of 247Sports.

Kiffin has been Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach the past two years.

The 40-year-old Kiffin was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 2007-08, Tennessee in 2009 and USC from 2010-13.

In 2014, Kiffin’s first season as an assistant at Alabama, the Crimson Tide averaged 36.9 points per game, which ranked 16th among FBS schools.

Maryland fired head coach Randy Edsall on Oct. 11 after the Terrapins started the season 2-4. The team has gone 0-3 under interim coach Mike Locksley.
