The old saying goes “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.” In Dan Werner’s case, he can check all of the above.

According to FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman, Nick Saban is hiring the former Ole Miss offensive coordinator to be an offensive analyst at Alabama:

Though Werner was dismissed following a 5-7 season at Ole Miss, the majority of his tenure in Oxford saw record-setting offenses. After using 2012 to find his footing and stabilize an Ole Miss offense that ranked near the bottom of the conference in nearly every statistical category, Werner was a finalist for the Broyles award in 2013. During that 2013 season, Ole Miss set school records for total offense (473.3 ypg), pass completions (310) and pass attempts (490).

Under Werner, quarterbacks Bo Wallace and Chad Kelly saw potentially the most dynamic sequential one-two punch of quarterbacks in program history. Wallace set the tone by setting school records for offense (473.3 ypg), pass completions (310) and pass attempts (490), then Kelly raised the bar, by adding the schools marks for career total offensive yards (10,478), 300-yard passing games (11), completion percentage (63.0) and pass efficiency (140.8).
