Alabama appears close to adding another arm to its quarterback room.

East Carolina graduate transfer QB Gardner Minshew is reportedly set to visit Tuscaloosa this weekend. Minshew is set to be a senior next season. The Mississippi native threw for 2,140 yards and 16 touchdowns after playing in 10 games for the Pirates last season. He split the majority of the reps for ECU until he played extensively for the team in November.

SDS sources indicate Tennessee is also in the mix for Minshew.

Why would the graduate transfer go to Alabama, where there is little to no chance he would contribute behind Tua Tagovailoa and potentially Jalen Hurts, as opposed to Tennessee, where he could potentially start in 2018? Apparently, Minshew has aspirations to be a coach.

If that is indeed the main selling point for the Crimson Tide, there’s no one better to learn from than Nick Saban. Here’s the story from AL.com on Minshew’s pending visit to Tuscaloosa:
