Alabama redshirt junior DB Deionte Thompson’s trial date is set for October in Texas, according to a report by BamaInsider.com.

Thompson was indicted on charges of second-degree felony assault in March of 2017, for his alleged part in a spring break beach brawl, and his trial date is set for October 8, 2018, which is sandwiched in between games against Arkansas and Missouri.

Thompson is one of four people accused of beating Noah Frillou in Crystal Beach, Texas, on March 18, 2017. The alleged victim suffered multiple fractures to his preorbital areas and maxillary bone.

A motion to suppress will be held on September 21, and a pretrial conference is scheduled for September 28.

Thompson recently was named to the media’s preseason All-SEC team, and he played a big role in Alabama’s College Football Playoff run and eventual national championship win over Georgia. In the two CFP games, Thompson recorded seven tackles and a pass breakup.

He was also a standout in spring practice winning the Jerry Duncan “I Like to Practice” Award.
