On Friday, it was reported that Eyabi Anoma is not enrolled in classes at the University of Alabama. New reports from the media covering the Crimson Tide are offering some insight into the situation.

Bama Insider and Touchdown Alabama are among the outlets reporting that Anoma has flown home to Washington D.C. Kyle Henderson of Bama Insider noted a tidbit of interest: Anoma has not entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. It might be a situation where Anoma does not need to be recruited.

Henderson’s article reports that sources expect Anoma to end up at Maryland, reuniting with Mike Locksley. The former Alabama offensive coordinator recruited Anoma, who is from Baltimore. Locksley left UA after the 2018 campaign to become the head coach of the Terrapins.

Anoma, a former 5-star recruit rated the No. 4 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2018, entered his name into the transfer portal earlier in the offseason, but quickly decided to remove his name. Based on the reports, he appears to be set on leaving Alabama this time around.

Should he change his mind, Henderson notes that Anoma has until Aug. 28 to enroll in classes and be able to participate with the Crimson Tide during the 2019 season. The outside linebacker/defensive end recorded nine tackles in the 2018 campaign and was set to be a sophomore this fall. He was recognized as an All-SEC Freshman selection by the league’s coaches last season.
