Some unfortunate news out of Tuscaloosa to share as Alabama defensive back Ronald Williams has reportedly suffered a broken arm.

If you aren’t familiar with Williams, he was one of the nation’s top overall junior college prospects in the 2020 recruiting cycle. He signed with Nick Saban’s program over Kentucky, Mississippi State and Texas A&M after being rated as the No. 4 JUCO cornerback in the nation.

Williams was expected to make an immediate impact on Alabama’s defense this season but that may not be happening now as 247Sports is reporting that Williams has suffered a broken arm.

It’s unclear how bad this injury may be or how long Williams will be impacted by the setback.

Alabama opens the season at Missouri on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Based on the buzz out of Alabama’s training camp, Williams was quick to impress his teammates.

Here is what defensive back Patrick Surtain II had to say about the former junior college standout in August.

“He’s doing well. He’s in his playbook more than ever now,” Surtain said. “He’s going to play a big part in our defense and we expect big things.”

Williams may still make an impact this season for the Tide but it likely won’t be early in the season following this news.
