Alabama QB Mac Jones is fresh off a third-place finish in the Heisman Trophy race and a national championship. Now, he’ll head off to the 2021 NFL Draft.

Some analysts have Jones as a first-round pick, with some even having him going in the top 10.

So, what sets him apart from other players? Texas coach (and former Alabama OC) Steve Sarkisian joined “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Monday and explained why Jones’s perseverance is second to none (via 247Sports):

“In this day and age of transfers, in this day and age of kids in high school going to two or three high schools, I think there’s something to be said about a guy that perseveres, that fights through adversity, develops the mental toughness needed,” Sarkisian said. “That, to me, is probably one of the characteristics Mac Jones really embodies. He came to Alabama not as the five-star. He came in with Tua (Tagovailoa), knowing Jalen Hurts was on the roster and was just the SEC Player of the Year, but believed in himself. He didn’t just wait his time. He worked, grinded, fought through.”

Jones finished the 2020 campaign with 4,500 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Now, we’ll have to see where he goes in April’s draft.
