Tennessee punch makes Alabama fans livid as refs don't call a penalty
A punch from a Tennessee player caused Alabama fans to become irate that the officials on Saturday didn’t throw a flag on the play.
Elijah Herring delivered a punch to Roydell Williams to try to knock the ball loose on a play that resulted in 1 yard from the Tennessee 29-yard line.
On CBS Sports, Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson discussed the play, as a replay in the stadium caused Alabama fans to stir in frustration. Danielson noted that defensive players often punch at the ball to dislodge it from the ballcarrier.
It came on a drive that Alabama narrowed the deficit to 20-17, as the Tide scored on a 6-play drive thanks to a Will Reichard 42-yard field goal.
Alabama has scored 10 unanswered points after Tennessee scored in the final seconds of the first half.
