As Alabama transitions to a new set of faces to lead the Crimson Tide this season, especially on offense, SEC Network broadcaster Tom Hart has identified that area as one to watch during the season opener against Miami.

From a macro point of view, Hart is not worried about Miami, but it has more to do with how Alabama is responding, and taking the baton into the new season with new faces in more prominent roles. Hart shared his perspective on the game during a segment on “McElroy and Cubelic In the Morning” on WJOX out of Birmingham, Alabama.

“Getting guys to go from being invested, to moving up a spot in the depth chart and now being responsible,” Hart said. “I look at Alabama big picture and you can talk D’Eriq King, you can talk about what Miami did well last year. Unless your name’s Clemson, I’m not really worried about you from an ACC perspective. Even though there’s talent in that league, there’s talent at quarterback, we all know that. From Miami to North Carolina, to Boston College, there’s talent at quarterback, guys that are going to be playing in the NFL.”

King is a bona fide talent according to Hart, but not as much to alter Alabama’s plan as long as the Tide stay on course.

“But the bottom line is Alabama’s got to worry about Alabama,” Hart said. “If they stub their toe, or don’t look great against Miami, I think it will have a lot less to do with who Miami is, and more to do with these guys at Alabama that are now moving into the first slot on that depth chart, being ready to do Day 1 against a real talent like D’Eriq King.”
